With Congress now taking a stance against the $7 billion lost to digital ad fraud, we like to believe that we’re heading in the right direction. Always keeping our publishers in mind, here are a few tips to help keep you in the clear.
Stay vigilant
Creating an internal monitoring system for your site is your first line of defense against ad fraud. Notice a surge in traffic or something out of the ordinary? Regularly checking your traffic sources and referrals is a great way to ensure that all of your traffic is clean.
Go organic
If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Purchasing cheap traffic or page views may be tempting but it can also make you vulnerable towards ad fraud. Consider building your site traffic organically, this is what truly makes it marketable. Knowing your readers first hand will allow you to create relatable content and host relevant ads that will result in a better user experience overall.
Consider a third-party verification
A step towards protecting your site against fraud is to partner with a third-party verification company. Not only will this benefit your site but this verification will also resonate with buyers that you are a credible and trustworthy.
