What's the buzz around the office this week? 33Across hires a new COO, Google may need some supply-side help from smaller providers, and mobile app monetization grows.

1. We've got a new COO and a CTO too

Last week we were excited to announce that David Jacobs joined the 33Across team as new chief operating officer. Coming from AOL, Jacobs will play a key role in 33Across’ global expansion efforts. In addition, we also announced how Shyam Kuttikkad has been promoted to chief technology officer from vice president of engineering. Check MediaPost for more details.   

2. Google gets competitive in building publisher tools

Google may not have the massive grip on the ad tech marketplace that it once had. Since April, companies including AppNexus, YieldBot, and Index Exchange have all created their own server-side integrations. With a goal of best-serving publishers, Digiday breaks down how Google could leverage their server connections to build innovative publisher products with smaller brands. 

3.  Mobile apps creates new ways for pubs to monetize
